Bakhtiyari Nomads of Zagros Mountain:

One of the oldest lifestyles of humankind! From thousands of years ago, from Arians, Achaemenids to present time, majority of Iranians were engaged in a pastoral subsistence system, caring and breeding their animals too keep on life. The nomadic population of Iran migrates in spring and fall. Each tribe claims the use of fixed territories for its summer and winter pastures and the right to use a specified migration route between these areas. Frequently summer and winter camps are widely separated, in some cases by as much as 1500 kilometers. This has been their life, as long as the history can remember.

On this trip you will see the highlights of the Bakhtiari Nomads of Zagros Mountain life styles in 12 Days. The Bakhtiyari tribe is concentrated in an area extending southward from Lorestan province to Khuzestan province and westward from Isfahan to near the Iraq border, moving their herds of sheep and goats between summer and winter pastures. They speak a dialect of Lori.

Day 1: Tehran – Arrival day

After your arrival at the IKA airport, your tour guide will greet you; transfer to your hotel, O/N in Tehran.

Day 2: Tehran

Experience for a relaxed breakfast on a city tour, the multifaceted metropolis and discover the modern and vibrant life of the Iranian Capital! Today you are starting the day with a walk through the impressive Golestan palaces (UNESCO World Heritage Site) then go to the National Archaeological museum you will get an initial overview of the millennia old history and culture of Iran. Then visit the crown jewels museum with one of the world`s most important gem collections. After that stroll through the modern and lively Tehran! For dinner go to Draband Mountain, O/N in Tehran.

Day 3: Abyaneh – Isfahan

On the road from Tehran to Isfahan, visit the Mountain village of Abyaneh. The small town is known for its red Clay houses that cling to the steep mountainside, then in the afternoon reach in Isfahan, O/N in Isfahan.

Day 4: Isfahan

Today you will discover the enchanting Isfahan with its turquoise domes, imposing palaces, mosques and mausoleums, just a fairytale scenery resembles. Enjoy from the terrace of the Ali-Qapu Palace fabulous views on one of the most beautiful places of the Orient: the Meydan-e Imam Square (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Then, immerse yourself into the labyrinth of the colorful Bazaar, O/N in Isfahan.

Day 5: Chelgerd

Today we will continue our journey From Isfahan to Chelgerd, we will visit the Stunning landscapes and fritillaria flowers all around and along the way. Afterward we are going to visit Bakhtiyari Nomad tribe, O/N in Chelgerd.

Day 6: Bazoft

Today we will drive toward Bazoft. Bazoft is famous and known as “the roof of Iran”. This green jewel of Zagros has several tourism attractions such as pristine nature of jungles, rafting rivers, Karun Headwater, High waterfalls and Fountains full of water, winters full of snow, environment and wildlife diversity, Archeological Monuments and Cultural reliefs, the nomadic life of an original Bakhtiyari tribe, O/N in Bazoft.

Day 7: Yasuj

This morning, we are going toward Yasuj. Enroute we will stop in Sisakht, a beautiful village at the foothill of Dena Mountain and visit Qashqai Nomad tribe, O/N in Yasuj.

Day 8: Ahvaz

Today we will continue our journey from Yasuj toward Ahvaz, visiting Karun River, O/N in Ahvaz.

Day 9: Izeh

Early morning we will keep on driving to Dehdasht, near Izeh, one of the famous places in visiting Bakhtiari Nomadic Tribe with the Stunning landscapes between mountains and plains with oak trees, O/N in Ahvaz.

Day 10: Choghazanbil – Shushtar – Susa – Dezful

Today`s route leads us through the plain of the Zagros Mountains to the sites of the ancient cultures. Chogha Zanbil with the well-preserved step pyramid (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is our next destination. Afterward, we will continue our excursion in a deeply rich historical city of Shushtar which lies strategically where the last contoured red ridges of the expiring Zagros Mountains are. Also there are lots to discover, including a complex of artificial ancient “water mills” which was controlling the irrigation of the Khuzestan plain. Then we will go to Susa with the plan to visit Apadana palace winter residence of Achaemenid era, and at last, we will reach to Dezful, O/N in Dezful.

Day 11: Khoramabad

In prosperous Khoramabad which is in Lorestan Province, we will admire the monumental medieval castle Falak al Aflak, and then we will visit the loving Bakhtiari Nomad tribe in Lorestan, O/N in Khoramabad.

Day 12: Kermanshah

This morning we are going to continue our way on the historic caravan route to the beautiful city of Kermanshah with its friendly and warmhearted Kurdish people. On the way, and near the city of Kermanshah, we will stopover in Bisotun to visit and admire one of the impressive historical sites(UNESCO World Heritage Site) in Iran which has the evidences of greatness from the Achaemenid Dynasty, the Darius relief. Afterward we will go to visit another magnificent historical site in Kermanshah city, “Taq-e-Bostan”. Its caves and ornate rock carving are waiting to be discovered by you. As in other Sassanid symbols, Taq-e Bostan and its bas-reliefs highlight the power, religious tendencies, glory, honor, the vastness of the court, games and fighting spirit, festivities and joy of the Sassanid period, O/N in Kermanshah.

Day 13: Hamadan

Hamedan was known in classical times as Ecbatana. It was once one of the ancient world`s greatest cities. Visit today the pompous mausoleum of the famous physician and philosopher Avicenna. On the Hegmataneh Hill was once the ancient city of the Medes, then you will go to Tomb tower of Esther & Mordechai belonging 14th century was once Iran`s most important Jewish pilgrimage site, then go to close of Hamadan in a rock face, the writing tablets Ganj Nameh from the Achaemenid admire. For daily closing From Abbasabad Hill enjoy views of the city scenery, O/N in Hamedan.

Day 14: Kashan

We will start our visit with the Fin garden a beautiful garden and a classical Persian vision of paradise; then Borujerdi & Tabatabai traditional houses, a former 19th century private residence with a lovely courtyard, Flanked by summer and winter houses, then go to Agha Bozorg Mosque and old Bazzar, O/N in Kashan.

Day 15: Departure

In the early morning you will be driven to the IKA airport in Tehran and fly back to your country.
